Respected cybersecurity certifications: from CISSP to OSCP

1Introduction

Independent bodies issue certifications that require continuing education.

2Discussion

ISC2’s CISSP covers eight domains — security and risk management, asset security, architecture and engineering, network security, IAM, assessment and testing, operations, software security — and requires professional experience.

ISACA’s CISM targets security management and governance; CISA is the audit reference; ISC2’s CCSP covers cloud.

CEH covers ethical hacking; OffSec’s OSCP is a hands-on exam; CompTIA Security+ is the foundation.

ISO 27001 Lead Auditor and Lead Implementer suit ISMS work.

3Conclusion

A common path: Security+, then CEH/OSCP, then CISSP or CISM.
