Big Tech in Finance: The Data–Network–Activities Loop

1Introduction

In its 2019 Annual Economic Report, the BIS explains big tech’s edge in finance through the “DNA” loop: Data analytics, Network externalities and interwoven Activities.

2Discussion

3Conclusion

The BIS notes this can boost efficiency and inclusion but also brings market concentration, data misuse and new risks, so policy must balance financial stability, competition and data protection.
