SMS fraud and banking phishing: protecting users

1Introduction

SMS posing as court notices, subsidies or fines lead users to fake payment pages; police and the CBI have repeatedly warned.

2Discussion

Malicious apps often gain SMS access, stealing subsequent one-time passwords.

Bank-side controls: show payee name before confirmation, anomaly-based limits, fake-page detection and stronger-than-SMS authentication.

3Conclusion

Users should know no official body asks for card details via SMS links, check for shaparak.ir and install apps only from official sources.
