In July 2021 FATF published “Opportunities and Challenges of New Technologies for AML/CFT”.

2Discussion

It finds AI, machine learning and natural language processing can speed up customer due diligence, transaction monitoring and suspicious activity reporting while reducing false positives.

3Conclusion

FATF also flags challenges: data quality, explainability, privacy and the need for human oversight, and calls for public–private cooperation on responsible use.
